Denise Zielinski is the community engagement officer for the Joliet Public Library, a position created in 2015. During a library career spanning multiple decades, Denise has held a variety of library positions throughout the Chicagoland area. She holds an MLS from Rosary College (now Dominican University) and a BS in Library Science from Illinois State University. Professionally, Denise has presented programs for local, state and national audiences on a wide range of topics and she has served on various committees and award juries at both the state and national levels.

The purpose of the Public Library Division of the Alabama Library Association is to promote public library service and development throughout Alabama. Alabama Public Library Standards of Achievement Awards recognize superior planning and levels of excellence attained by exceptional public libraries in Alabama. At this time, Gold Level Standards Award is the highest level of achievement attainable by a public library in Alabama, followed by the Silver Level and Bronze Level Awards. Public libraries that achieve these standards levels serve as benchmarks of excellence for other libraries in the state.
The iSchool was awarded a $623,501 Laura Bush 21 Century Librarian Program grant by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to educate and mentor the next generation of Library and Information Science faculty with expertise in artificial intelligence and data science. Fellows will engage in research projects while collaborating with iSchool faculty and librarians across three types of library contexts: public library, school library, and academic library. Fellows will also receive mentorship and gain valuable teaching experience educating future librarians how to best develop, apply, and use AI in libraries in ways that are equitable, ethical, and effective.
The Al Smith Individual Artist Fellowship is a competitive $7,500 award given to working, professionalKentucky artists who have achieved a high level of excellence and creativity in their work and whohave demonstrated significant achievement in their field. Fellowships are based upon the quality ofthe work samples submitted by the artist. Fellowship awards are unrestricted and may be used in anyway to enhance the artist's career.

August 18, 2017. MLIS students Heather Smith and Amanda Roper have won the 2017 Georgia Library Association Scholarships. Heather has received the Beard Scholarship and Amanda won the Hubbard scholarship. These two awards are given annually by GLA to provide financial Assistance for students pursuing a master's degree in library science. The stated purpose is to provide financial assistance to worthy students pursuing graduate studies leading to a Masters Degree in Library and Information Studies and to encourage graduates to return to Alaska to work in professional library positions. Scholarships may be awarded for both on-campus and/or distance education programs. Preference will be given to an individual meeting the federal definition of Alaska Native ethnicity.
The Reference Service Press Fellowship is open to (1) college seniors or college graduates who have been accepted in an accredited master's degree program in library/information studies (documentation is required) or (2) graduate students currently enrolled in an accredited master's degree program in library/information students (full or part time) who will have completed no more than eight credits when the award is given.
